A firefighter, a gallery owner, an immigration lawyer, or an OB-GYN.
Which of these would you like to write the laws your business and family must obey?
Right.
None of them.
Yet these are the choices the Democrats are running in district 40 (NOT my district but still worth discussing.)
Now if I had to choose it would be the immigration lawyer– because presumably this person knows something about the law– but immigration law isn’t exactly the hardest hitting legal field. No offense.
Essentially none of these individuals could POSSIBLY be qualified to write federal law– they simply don’t have the sort of experience that would allow them to do a competent job.
Would you trust any of them to fix your car if it broke down? No, you would take it to a mechanic.
Well our laws are broken. So we need to take them to good capable attorneys to fix them.
But let’s take a quick look at the Democrats in D. 40 (I will talk about the Republicans in a bit.)
First there’s firefighter Joe Kerr.
I love firefighters!
Now I LOVE firefighters– remember my brother is a Captain with the OCFA!– and I want to see these guys get REALLY well taken care of. But that doesn’t mean I want them writing our laws! Respectfully Joe, do you know how statutes are interpreted by courts? Do you know what special definitions require? Can you integrate case law interpretations into existing bodies of law and make needed modifications?
Probably no more than a guy like me could properly vent a roof.
Firefighters deserve our great respect. But that doesn’t mean they can write laws.
Then there’s Ester Kim Varet. She’s a gallery owner. Do I need to say anything else?
Next.
Lisa Ramirez. An immigration lawyer of some repute. I think you know where she’s going to stand on immigration issues. But at least she’s a lawyer.
Now in my circles immigration law is looked down upon as petty low brow, but it has certainly taken on more importance lately. I could see why people would think Ramirez is a good choice but ask yourself how she will do making deals with Trump. Doesn’t seem like someone he would take seriously. Feels like more rough treatment from D.C. if she is elected.
That just leaves Tiffanie Tate— veteran officer of the US Navy and OB-GYN. Again, RESPECT the service! But being a naval officer doesn’t mean you know how to write laws. Ditto the OB-GYN.
LOVE the commitment to our country and the health of my fellow Americans. But these are not qualifications to WRITE OUR LAWS.
Not trying to throw shade here. These all seem like decent folks– especially Joe and Dr. Tate– but we have to be REAL about what got us into the trouble we are in to begin with.
None of these people are qualified to do the job we need them to do. So they will just be puppets doing what the party leadership tells them to do and voting on laws and bills they don’t understand (and maybe haven’t even read.)
THAT MEANS VOTING FOR THEM IS GIVING POWER ONLY TO THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY AND NOT TO YOU!
This is a major problem folks. Need qualified people in there right now TO SERVE THE PEOPLE!
Everyone is for free speech until they’re not it seems.
I remember growing up America was the nation of free speech believers– “I might not agree with what you have to say, but I would die for your right to say it.”
Remember that?
I do.
And I still believe it.
For instance I recently got BLOWN UP on Reddit– just totally roasted.
A lot of folks were mad– said these guys were trolls and losers, etc.– but I was fine with it. Actually I was MORE than fine with it.
I WANT to live in a country where is some powerful lawyer starts acting like a tool he gets blown up on Reddit. This is important. This is how people stay humble and politicians stay responsive to the people.
Now, I’m no tool– but I could see why people got the wrong idea. And I have no problem with people letting me have it if I misstep or get out of line. I need to be corrected if I am going to serve this district fairly.
So feel free to criticize your humble Czar if you think I deserve it. I am here for YOU. If I ever start acting like a pompous out-of-touch politician let me have it!
I want to be the living embodiment of the will and wisdom of the people. That’s my job as a representative. And you should feel free to have your say about it!
But there are two sides to this coin.
If you agree with what I’m saying and doing– you also have to back me up so other people know we need MORE of this sort of thing in our nation.
Talked to a ton of people about the campaign this week. Tons of support.
Money pouring in.
Talked to someone who had a very interesting observation.
“You’re acting like you’re David fighting Goliath.” He said. “You have this all wrong. You’re Goliath.”
He’s not wrong.
As an independent I am stepping gingerly. His point was clear– “the policies you’re running against have 20% support– the vast majority of people stand with you.”
This was worth chewing on.
The result was never in doubt.
But the approach may change. It may be time to get more aggressive.
Apparently things are so “toxic” in D.C. right now that more than 50 people in Congress are quitting. They can’t get anything done and so they’re leaving.
Probably not the worse thing in the world.
These people are by and large unqualified to be there. They don’t understand what the job entails, so they aren’t getting it done.
They don’t even understand how its supposed to work. They just know it isn’t working.
They can’t fix it so they’re leaving.
Ok.
Good.
They weren’t going to last much longer anyway.
In the new world– the post-Troutman world– only QUALIFIED and CAPABLE leaders who understand the job requirements and can meet them will be in Congress. The folks headed for the exit probably know its coming.
But actually they’re just sick of partisan politics like we all are. They must obey. Puppets.
“Rubber stamp” this “rubber stamp” that– obey party leadership, ignore the people.
Its all coming to an end folks.
And it starts right here in BEAUTIFUL Orange County.
