Time to bring Back the PAc-12?

Time to bring Back the PAc-12?

So its my favorite time of year– BOWL SEASON!

But I have to tell you, this conference realignment is really bothering me.

Why are Cal and Stanford (west coast schools) in the ATLANTIC Coast Conference?

Why are Washington and Oregon playing Rutgers in conference games?

This is madness.

We need the conference of champions back. Bring back the Pac-12!

Every REAL college football fan knew the Pac-12 was the best conference out there top-to-bottom. Yeah the East Coast bias and the late night games kept them out of the news but man the conference just produced sparkling play.

Plus the beauty of the Rose Bowl (grand daddy of them all) has been co-opted as part of this strange playoff thing (Still getting used to it).

UCLA and USC ruined everything with their backhanded money grab. And most everyone followed suit (I see you Beavs and Cougs.)

Bottom line– we need the pac-12 back together.

If I’m elected I think I’m going to look into.

What do you think?

If you agree shoot a couple of bucks to the campaign.

Merry Christmas Eve!– But Let’s Talk Hanukkah For One Second

Merry Christmas Eve!– But Let’s Talk Hanukkah For One Second

So its Christmas Eve and the humble Troutman Christmas tree is ready for the presents to arrive tonight!

But before we jump into the Christmas festivities this evening I wanted to take a second and mark the end of Hanukkah.

I know I am a few days late on this– and I apologize to my Jewish friends– but I had the best experience last week.

My law firm Troutman Amin, LLP had its annual retreat last week and several of our team members are Jewish. Since it was the first few nights of Hanukkah we all lit the menorah together consistent with the ceremonial process.

I had never attended a menorah lighting ceremony before and it was very meaningful for me to be a part of it. Felt very grateful to have been invited and really enjoyed being there.

I am a great big fan of the Jewish people– very historic and well-educated bunch– and I LOVE that they make up such a great part of our shared American culture.

Jewish folks in this country are VERY patriotic in my experience and very kind. Lots of gratitude from their community and they are BIG contributors to our success as a nation.

So wanted to pause and acknowledge these great folks before we get super Christmassy for the next 12 days!

Much love!

MERRY CHRISTMAS MY BEAUTIFUL FRIENDS!

MERRY CHRISTMAS MY BEAUTIFUL FRIENDS!

Such a wonderful time of year.

Resting and spending time with our loved ones is pretty much hard-coded into our DNA.

In many parts of the world celebrating the winter solstice with family and yuletide fires (and good nog) dates back centuries– millennia even.

Its the one thing all Americans can agree on.

Well that and that the political parties are the worst!

A gift of a brighter tomorrow is under that tree my friend.

Much love!

Troutman For America is here for you!

Merry Christmas… and America Deserves to Win!

Americans Deserve to Win! but the Democrats and Republicans Keep LOSING

Americans Deserve to Win! but the Democrats and Republicans Keep LOSING

So the Democrats are very excited right now.

They’re feeling really good that they may “win” the midterms.

Let’s get a couple of things straight.

Americans do NOT want Democrats in charge anymore than they want the Republicans in charge. Both parties are awful right now– only obeying their own members and ignoring what the majority of Americans want.

But the Democrats WILL likely win the midterms– although not California’s District 47 because that’s going to Troutman, an independent.

The only reason the Democrat will win, however, is because the Republicans are screwing up so badly.

But guess what.

When the Democrats win they’ll just screw up badly as well.

And then the Republicans will take back over and guess what?

Yep, more screwing up.

The PARTIES ARE THE PROBLEM.

Again, they are only serving their own people and not THE PEOPLE. As a result NEITHER party can lead. And we will just keep seesawing.

Time to get smart folk.

happy Birthday Walt Disney

happy Birthday Walt Disney

Living in Orange County you’re always in the shadow of the Troutman Amin, LLP lion– but perhaps even more so in the shadow of Disney.

This is the house of the mouse.

I think about Walt from time to time. Never knew him, obviously, but I feel a certain connection to him because above anything else he was a dreamer as much as a doer.

When he built “Disneyland” in the middle of a bunch of Orange Groves what a bizarre thing that must have been.

Can you imagine this?

It would be like me going out to the Tejon Ranch and building “Troutmanland” with exhibits dedicated to free speech and constitutional issues. Crazy right?

Actually it’s even wilder than that. Because that’s been done.

When Walt did it this was something that had never been done before. A concept that seemed so foreign and strange as to border on insane.

“Crazy Walt building his crazy park.”

But it was absolutely brilliant. So much to the point that now it seems almost obvious. Now we think of Disneyland and assume it obviously works but at the time it seemed obvious it would NOT work.

Nobody thought building Disneyland was a good idea. He couldn’t get financing for it. He had to sell his house and cash out insurance products to get it done because who would invest in such a crazy scheme?

But Walt understood his crazy dream was actually an obvious next step in storytelling. Immerse people in the world of his creation– give them a physical TASTE of the magic that was otherwise only available on screen.

And when you think about it all he was trying to do was bring to life the stories he told in animations into a live physical format. He added a few themes– creating the first modern “theme” park in doing so– and he had done something so simple and marvelous it has become a part of American DNA.

Create an immersive environment around the magic of your own creation. He was the first to do it, and that’s a hell of an invention!

Again, this seems to OBVIOUS now but at the time it was utterly unimaginable.

Until he did it.

Deep respect for the man.

Walt would have been 124 years old today. So Happy Birthday Mr. Disney! I look forward to serving the people here in your backyard well and helping to keep a sense of that spirit of magic you created alive for generations to come.

Thank you for PROVING that crazy dreams can literally change the world– and change even what people think is crazy. Because of guys like YOU America Deserves to Win!

Should note: by providing this tribute to Walt I am NOT suggesting Disney or any of its affiliates or entities or any member of the Disney family is backing my run. I mean they probably would IMO because I’m awesome but I haven’t talked to anyone over there about it so please don’t consider this some sort of endorsement. It is not.
