How To Vote

Finally, you have someone WORTHY OF YOUR VOTE.
If you voted for other people in the past, we’re sorry your vote was wasted. But this time it will really count.
Troutman will not let you down like the other guys have.
So let’s get down to voting.

Make a plan to vote

Make a plan to vote — whether by mail, early, or in person on Election Day. Your voice matters, and your vote helps bring integrity and accountability to Congress.

Voting Resources:

  • Voter Registration: Confirm your registration status or register online through the California Secretary of State website.

  • Vote by Mail: Learn how to request and return your mail-in ballot before the deadline.

  • Early Voting: Find locations and dates for early voting in your county.

  • Election Day: Know your polling place and what you’ll need to bring to vote in person.

To register to vote for California’s 47th congressional district, you will use the state’s online registration portal. Your specific congressional district is assigned based on the residential address you provide during registration.

How to register online
Navigate to California’s official voter registration website: registertovote.ca.gov
Follow the prompts to fill out and submit the application electronically.

Have the following information ready:

  • Your California driver’s license or state identification card number
  • The last four digits of your Social Security number
  • Your date of birth.

If you don’t have a California driver’s license or ID, you can still register online, but you will need to take additional steps to complete your registration.

Who is eligible
To register to vote in California, you must be:

  • A United States citizen
  • A resident of California
  • At least 18 years old on or before Election Day
  • Not currently serving a state or federal prison term for a felony conviction
  • Not currently found mentally incompetent to vote by a court

Pre-registration for younger voters
You can pre-register to vote if you are 16 or 17 years old. Once you turn 18, you will automatically be registered to vote.

Important deadlines and conditional registration

  • Standard registration deadline: In California, the deadline for online or mail-in registration is 15 days before an election.
  • Same-day voter registration: If you miss the standard deadline, you can still register and vote in person on Election Day through Conditional Voter Registration. You will be able to cast a provisional ballot, which will be counted once your registration is processed and verified by election officials. You can do this at any vote center or at your county elections office.
